Tammy Smith

CHIEF

EXECUTIVE

OFFICER

Tammy serves as Chief Executive Officer of OGL Engineering and is a member of the Board of Directors.  She first joined OGL Engineering in 2009, taking over the role of CEO in January 2018.

 

Recently shortlisted for Tecterra’s Woman of Impact award, Tammy is passionate about ensuring the engineering profession is a welcoming place for women and other minority groups.  She also currently volunteers as President of the Alberta Geomatics Group, a non-profit group promoting community in the industry. 

Tammy graduated from the University of Calgary’s Schulich School of Engineering with a degree in Geomatics Engineering and is registered as a Professional Engineer in Alberta and the Yukon.  

Born and raised in Calgary, Tammy has a great appreciation for the easy access to an abundance of hiking trails in Kanasakis Country and Banff National Park only an hour from the city, and you’ll find her there most weekends during the summer.  The rest of the year, Tammy spends her free time playing board games with friends, attending pub trivia nights, and is a supporter of the Alberta Ballet.

Sam Rondeel

VICE

PRESIDENT

ENGINEERING

Sam currently holds the VP Engineering position at OGL Engineering. He joined the OGL team in 2016 and was promoted to Production Manager in 2017, where he remained until 2021. 

 

Sam began his geomatics career as a survey assistant in 2004, and soon became a survey crew chief. This lead him to pursue a formal education at the University of Calgary’s Schulich School of Engineering, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree (2013) and eventually a Master’s degree (2017). Sam has a Master of Science in Geomatics Engineering with a specialization in digital imaging systems. Sam earned his P.Eng. designation through APEGA in 2021. His interests currently include Peppa Pig, piggy back rides, and tending a small backyard garden.

Brenden Birdsell

VICE

PRESIDENT

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Brenden is the VP of Business Development. Since joining OGL Engineering in 2016, he has been involved in a wide range of projects from developing a GIS for Spruce Meadows to creating interactive AR and VR experiences. Brenden takes pride in providing a personalized approach to every client’s needs.  


Brenden graduated from the University of Calgary’s Schulich School of Engineering with a degree in Geomatics Engineering. Born and raised in Calgary, Brenden’s passions include camping with family, golf, fishing, and spending time at the cabin.

Brian Moynihan

AVIATION

MANAGER

Brian is the Aviation Manager, overseeing flight department operations at OGL Engineering.  Brian joined OGL Engineering in 2019 after 10 years of field survey work and land survey project management.   

 

Brian graduated from the University of Calgary’s Schulich School of Engineering with a degree in Geomatics Engineering and is registered as a Professional Engineer in Alberta.  

 

An avid hiker, Brian has hiked the entirety of the Appalachian Trail (2250 miles) and the Pacific Crest Trail (2650 miles) from Mexico to Canada.

Marnie Dunbar

PRODUCTION

MANAGER

Marnie joined OGL Engineering after graduating from the University of Calgary in 2016. Eventually becoming a Professional Engineer with APEGA in 2021, she is currently the Production Manager. 

 

In her spare time, you would most likely find her relaxing at home with her cat while knitting, crocheting or reading a good book.

Alfred D'Mello

SAFETY

MANAGER

Alfred graduated from the University of Calgary’s Schulich School of Engineering with a degree in Geomatics Engineering. Alfred joined OGL Engineering after graduation because of his interest in aerial photo and LiDAR, and eventually became a registered Professional Engineer in Alberta. Since 2018, Alfred has been continuously developing and managing the safety program at OGL Engineering. 

 

His interests include Disney songs, home automation, and learning to become the best dad ever.

Tanya Hanf

ADMINISTRATION MANAGER

Tanya joined OGL team as an Administrative Assistant after completing her Office Administration practicum with us in 2007. In 2008 she took over the role of Administration Manager. She is responsible for Accounting, Human Resources and the overall coordination of a broad range of services/resources that allow OGL to operate effectively.

 

Tanya is an avid outdoorswoman, spending most of her weekends off-grid in the mountains. She takes time in the summer months to visit her hometown in Nova Scotia to get her ocean fix.
